HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Agoura’s Cassidy Scores 1, Stops 15 Shots in 1-1 Tie
Agoura goalie Mike Cassidy scored the tying goal and made 15 saves as the host Chargers and Thousand Oaks played to a 1-1 tie in a Marmonte League boys’ soccer match Friday afternoon.
Cassidy netted a penalty shot with five minutes remaining after Lancer forward Dan Nguyen converted teammate Tyler Rice’s corner kick 20 minutes into the second half.
Calabasas 4, Moorpark 1--David Appel scored two goals to lead the Coyotes (8-1) in a Frontier League opener. The match was a rematch of last season’s Southern Section Division V championship encounter, which ended in a tie.
Royal 6, Channel Islands 1--Armando Galan and Allen Minassian each scored two goals for the host Highlanders (11-4-2, 2-1) in a Marmonte league match.
St. Francis 1, Alemany 0--Junior halfback Eric Johnson scored on a penalty kick two minutes into overtime, giving the Golden Knights a Mission League victory and extending their unbeaten streak to seven matches.
Notre Dame 2, Harvard-Westlake 1--Steve Lee and Pat Thomsen scored for host Notre Dame (5-4, 1-0) in its Mission League opener.
