BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Savanna’s Fourth-Quarter Rally Beats Magnolia, 51-50

David Draghinas’ nine points in the fourth quarter helped Savanna rally to beat Magnolia, 51-50, in an Orange League boys’ basketball game Friday at Magnolia.

Draghinas finished with 22 points for Savanna (11-5, 1-0), which trailed by four points entering the final quarter. Josh Reding had 15 points for Magnolia (8-8, 0-1).

Valencia 47, Western 44--James Rivera scored 11 points for host Valencia (4-13, 1-0).

Brea Olinda 83, Anaheim 43--Eric Repp had 18 points and Matt Bodiford 13 for Brea Olinda (11-6, 1-0), which took a 22-6 first-quarter lead.

Jon Padilla had 13 points for Anaheim (1-13, 0-1).

Kennedy 77, West Covina 75--Kennedy’s Richie Bowen hit a three-pointer with three seconds left to tie the score, then made two free throws after West Covina was assessed a technical foul for calling a timeout when it had none.

Bowen had 20 points and David Hinojos had 19 for visiting Kennedy (6-9).

Chino Hills Ayala 77, El Dorado 76 (2OT)--Dustin Miller scored 33 points and had eight assists before fouling out as El Dorado fell short against Ayala (15-1), ranked ninth in The Times Southland poll.

Robbie Sammons added 20 points for the Golden Hawks (12-4).

St. Margaret’s 72, Liberty Christian 40--Damian Raibon had 20 points and Danny Gomes had 15 points for St. Margaret’s (9-3, 1-0). Rob McClung had 19 points for Liberty Christian (4-7, 0-1).

Villa Park 45, Canyon 31--John Steving scored 20 points to lead the Spartans (10-4, 1-0). Wes Furtua added eight points and seven steals.

Orange 45, Foothill 39--Danny Garcia had 22 points and nine rebounds and Andy Lauridsen had 13 points for Orange (11-3, 1-0), which outscored Foothill, 12-3, in the third quarter to take control. Dan Almquist had 16 points for Foothill (9-8, 1-1).
