COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Brannan Leads SCC in Cal Baptist Tournament

Heather Brannan made four three-pointers and finished with 24 points as Southern California College beat Mid-America Nazarene (Kan.), 89-70, in the first round of the California Baptist tournament Thursday in Riverside.
Tina Southard added 16 points, including two three-pointers, and Heather Woodruff had 15 for SCC (4-6), which led at the half, 44-37.
In Big West Conference women’s basketball:
New Mexico State 88, Long Beach State 74--Anita Maxwell scored 30 points and Jamie Stimson added 17 for host New Mexico State (7-3, 2-0). Akia Hardy had 20 and Kim Barfield added 19 for Long Beach State (3-6, 1-1).
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Menlo 74, Southern California College 61--Fine Lauese had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Menlo (7-5), which led, 41-24, at the half.
