BURBANK : Class Will Discuss Disaster Readiness

Just after the first anniversary of the Northridge earthquake, the city of Burbank will hold a free class on disaster preparedness to ensure residents are ready if disaster should strike again.
The Earthquake Anniversary Seminar will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 18 at the city’s fire training center, 1845 N. Ontario St. Presentations will be made by the city Fire Department, the American Red Cross and the Verdugo Disaster Recovery Program.
The program will cover difficulties in getting prepared, the importance of community preparedness and coping with anxiety on the quake’s anniversary.
The Fire Department’s urban search-and-rescue team also will make a presentation, and there will be vendors offering disaster supplies and product information, organizers said.
