BURBANK : Ballroom Dance Lessons Offered
A ballroom dancing course tailored for the gay and lesbian community will begin Monday in Burbank, offering lessons in waltz, fox trot, cha-cha, rhumba, East Coast swing and other styles.
The course is sponsored by Shall We Dance, a new club for gay and lesbian dance enthusiasts of all skill levels. The class will meet Mondays at the Burbank Board of Realtors auditorium, 2006 W. Magnolia Blvd.
Instruction fees are $10 per person per class or $50 per person for the six-week series. The sessions include a beginning class from 7 to 8:45 p.m. and an intermediate class from 8:45 to 10:30 p.m. The group also holds a mixer at the end of each six-week session to introduce new members to the program.
“It’s a way for them to get acquainted with us and each other, and to see what we’re doing,†said Gloria Paternostro, the group’s founder and dance instructor. “It’s also an opportunity to meet, mingle and socialize.â€
