Dietary Supplement Makers Want Change: Some makers of dietary supplements want Congress to retool a hard-won compromise over how to regulate their industry. The makers insist they’re not resurrecting the bitter issue merely because they expect the new Republican Congress to back less-strict regulations. Instead, they contend that the compromise--lauded as historic just two months ago--gives the Food and Drug Administration too much authority over vitamins, herbs and other supplements.
