Big West Conference Honors UCI’s Simmons

UC Irvine freshman Kevin Simmons was named Big West player of the week Tuesday. Simmons, a 6-foot-9 forward, totaled 31 points and 21 rebounds and made 13 of 24 field-goal attempts in two Irvine victories last week.
Simmons had 17 points and 11 rebounds Tuesday night as the Anteaters beat Oregon State, 89-73, and scored 14 points with 10 rebounds in Saturday night’s 69-66 victory over St. Mary’s.
Simmons is third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.6 points and is second in rebounding (8.1).
