SYLMAR : Library Supporters to Hold Book Sale
The Friends of the Sylmar Library will hold their first used-book sale of the new year Jan. 10 in the parking lot behind the library, 13059 Glenoaks Blvd.
About five times a year, the friends put on a sale to raise money to buy new books and sponsor reading programs for the library, said event coordinator Pat Lee.
“They’ve been cutting from the budget for the last five years,†Lee said.
She said the Friends of the Sylmar Library raise $350 per book sale, where used books donated from the public are sold for about 25 cents each.
One of the club’s long-term goals is to raise enough money to find a newer and bigger facility for the library, Lee said.
