PREP ROUNDUP : Five Anaheim Wrestlers Pin Opponents in Rout of Katella
Alexei Yanuaria was one of five Anaheim wrestlers who had pins in the Colonists’ 47-18 victory over Katella in a nonleague match Wednesday at Anaheim.
Yanuaria, ranked second in the county at 130 pounds, had the fastest pin in 1:16. Other Anaheim wrestlers to record pins were Richard Ramirez (119), Alex Coria (125), Danny Mejia (145) and Leonard Ruiz (160). Katella also had to forfeit four matches.
Katella’s Hung Huynh defeated Jose Lopez, 5-4, in the 112-pound match. Lopez usually wrestles at 103 pounds, at which is ranked No. 1. Katella had another victory when third-ranked Eric Schirmacher (171) defeated fourth-ranked Robert Droughns, 6-2. Anaheim improved to 16-2. Katella is 6-6.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Santa Margarita 9, Loara 0--The top-ranked Eagles scored four goals in the first 11 minutes. Chon Kantikovit, Seth George and Matt Blasdel each scored twice for Santa Margarita (9-0-1).
Savanna 5, Costa Mesa 3--Savanna’s Julio Palacio broke a 2-2 halftime tie with three goals in the second half. Jose Albarran had eight saves for Savanna (4-2-3).
In the Claremont girls’ soccer tournament:
Brea-Olinda 0, Temecula Valley 0 (3-1 in shootout)--Christine Geske stopped Temecula Valley’s third attempt in the shootout to preserve the consolation victory for Brea-Olinda (7-1-3).
In a second-round game, Christine Geske had seven saves for Brea-Olinda, which lost to Claremont, 1-0.
Fullerton 2, Hacienda Heights Wilson 0--Amy Lemke and Jenny Ryan both scored unassisted goals for Fullerton in the fourth-round shutout.
In a third-round game, San Bernardino San Gorgono defeated Fullerton, 4-3. Fullerton (3-5-2) will play in the semifinal round at 9 a.m.
In the Simi Valley girls’ soccer tournament:
Capistrano Valley 2, Thousand Oaks La Reina 0--For fourth-ranked Capistrano Valley (10-2), Jen Tomczik and Kelly Skeen each scored in the first half of the third-place game.
