LONG BEACH : Asphalt Recycler to Take Over Plant
After a year of struggling to land a site, EcoPave recycling has found a home in Long Beach.
The City Council decided Tuesday to allow the asphalt recycler to take over the site of an existing asphalt plant at 1646 E. 32nd St. Last summer, the council had rejected the company’s application to operate at a North Long Beach site.
Residents and local businesses opposed the latest EcoPave proposal, saying they were concerned about dust, noise, odor and traffic that the asphalt recycler will generate. But representatives of Blue Diamond Materials, which currently occupies the site, said that if EcoPave were not allowed in, they planned to restart production in their plant, which has been dormant since June.
