COMPTON : City Extends Deadline on Card Club Project
- Share via
City officials have given a developer another six months to secure a deal with a financial partner to build a card club in the city.
The City Council voted 4 to 1 last week to set a new deadline of June 13, 1995, to begin construction. Councilwoman Yvonne Arceneaux opposed the extension.
It is the second extension granted to the developer, Compton Entertainment Inc., which requested the delay to finalize an agreement with the investor, Hollywood Park Inc. In July, Hollywood Park opened a casino at the Inglewood track.
Hollywood Park spokesman Tyrone Smith assured council members last week that the company is interested in investing in the $40-million casino project, which would be built on a seven-acre site off Auto Drive South, near the Artesia (91) Freeway.
