Boron 20, Morro Bay 16--Boron held off a late rally to win its second Division XI championship in a row at Morro Bay High.
Morro Bay’s final drive ended at the Boron 20-yard line on Jason Sordelet’s fumble with 38 seconds remaining.
“Everything just went wrong,” said Sordelet, who finished with a game-high 160 yards and a touchdown. “It just didn’t happen tonight.”
Boron (11-1) scored on its first three possessions and took a 20-3 lead on a 79-yard touchdown pass play from Nathan Judd to Ty Gifford early in the second quarter.
Chris Fick, who scored Boron’s first touchdown on two-yard run, finished with 96 yards in 22 carries.
Morro Bay, playing in its first championship, finished 10-2.
