The Moorpark College women’s soccer team will play in the state final four tournament this weekend at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.
The Raiders (11-3-3) face De Anza College (16-1-1) in today’s 2 p.m. semifinal.
De Anza, the defending state champion, is the No. 1 team from the Coast Conference. Moorpark finished second in the Western State Conference.
Moorpark is led by forward Vanessa Macen, who has scored 12 goals, defender Summer Salvatera and midfielder Heather Heit. All were named to the all-conference team.
Moorpark goalkeeper Amy Fisher has 73 saves and six shutouts. Backup goalie Shannon Henry has 36 saves and four shutouts.
“We don’t have any one top player,” Moorpark Coach Ken Dale said. “The big key with this team has been sticking together through thick and thin.”
WSC champion Bakersfield (13-4-1) plays Santa Rosa (14-2-1), winner of the Bay Valley Conference, in the other semifinal today at 11.
The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m.
