VILLA PARK : Woman, 41, Arrested Again in Stalking Case
A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of stalking a Villa Park man who she insisted would marry her one day, police said Friday.
Michelle Phillips was arrested at her home Thursday and held at the Orange County Jail on $25,000 bail, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Martini.
“This lady has a long-term problem,†Martini said, of exhibiting “bizarre behavior.â€
Phillips met the man, whom police have not identified, in the late 1980s when she visited his home as the date of an invited guest, Martini said.
She soon developed an obsession with the man, Martini said, showing up uninvited at his home and Huntington Beach business, calling him repeatedly and telling people at the home and business that the man eventually would marry her.
The man reported the harassment to police, and eventually a restraining order was issued against her. In November, 1993, Phillips was convicted of violating the court order and served nine months in County Jail for the misdemeanor.
Last month, the man reported to police that Phillips was again harassing him. Police obtained an arrest warrant for felony stalking.
