‘Dueling Prophets’

Normally, I overcome inertia and write to The Times only when an article has left me outraged. However, Times staff writer Susan Moffat has inspired me to write and offer my congratulations for her “Dueling Prophets of Next L.A.” (Nov. 19). Her warm, finely-crafted, ironic and poignant piece on Mike Davis and Kevin Starr is one of the best things I have ever seen in The Times. She had me intrigued with, charmed by, laughing at and then cheering these two brilliant characters.
The images the Moffat creates in her description of the odd couple touring Los Angeles are wonderful. I thought I was watching a Frank Capra movie. Thanks for taking me along.
