OUTLOOK
After a rare off-year, missing the playoffs for the first time since 1988, the Artists expect to again cause problems in league. It’s a small, deep team that should help Fleming’s penchant for pressure defense and fast breaks. Three starters, Beimfohr, Orsborn and Redford, and Bloch, who was moved to the varsity late, are back from a team that was peaking as the season ended. Pivaroff, out with a knee injury last year, also returns, giving Fleming a reason for optimism. He’ll quickly find out how good his team is. Its nonleague schedule could include Woodbridge, Lakewood, Servite and Santa Ana Valley. “It’s stupid, I guess, but I would rather play a tough schedule and find out where we’re at,” Fleming said.
