Continental Announces New Fare Cuts: Continental Airlines said late Friday that the latest cuts will be available today through Friday. Travel is available starting Dec. 3 and must be completed by Feb. 15, if within the United States, and by March 31 to Europe. Other restrictions also apply. As an example of the cuts, Continental said the one-way fare between Los Angeles and Madrid would drop to $279 from $379; from San Diego to Atlanta, to $179 from $295. It was not known late Friday if other airlines would match the discounts, the latest in a series of cuts during the slower winter travel season.
