VILLA PARK : Santa Claus Coming to Town’s Parade Dec. 17
The City Council has picked Dec. 17 as this year’s date for the city’s annual Santa Claus Parade.
The yearly event is something like trick-or-treat and Mardi Gras wrapped in a Christmas theme. One of the annual event’s highlights occurs when Santa and the five council members ride through town on a county fire engine.
The daylong ride through town starts about 8 a.m. and continues to about 5 p.m. The fire engine goes down residential streets, and council members pass out candy to children.
Sometimes the colorful event is marred by rain. But by mayoral proclamation, it was announced recently that weather would be good Dec. 17.
“It will not rain this year,†Mayor Barry Denes jokingly proclaimed. “It rained last year.â€
