COMMUNITY COLLEGE SOCCER ROUNDUP : Wind, Cypress Roar Past Rancho Santiago
Carlye Wind scored three goals and Kim Wyer added two for Cypress in its 7-0 shutout of Rancho Santiago on Tuesday in an Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer game at Cypress.
The Chargers (15-0-2, 13-0-2), who clinched their third consecutive Orange Empire Conference crown last Thursday, had a 5-0 halftime lead and did not allow Rancho Santiago any shots on goal.
In other women’s conference soccer:
Irvine Valley 2, Orange Coast 0--Shannon Cunningham scored two second-half goals for host Irvine Valley (13-5-1, 10-4-1), which kept its playoff hopes alive. Orange Coast is 13-6, 10-5.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Orange Coast 2, Irvine Valley 0--Athanasios Koubouras and Matt Hicks scored goals for host OCC (10-4-4, 6-3-2), which clinched second place.
Rancho Santiago 8, Cypress 2--Andy Ostelie scored two goals and Francisco Islas scored two goals for host Rancho Santiago (14-2-3, 9-1-1), which led, 5-0, at halftime.
