OUTLOOK
Harrison inherits eight lettermen, including four starters from a team that finished third in the Garden Grove League last season. Experience will definitely be an asset as the Irish enter the new league. Kitagawa, one of three returning seniors, averaged 13.5 points and earned all-league honors. Given the lack of depth in the paint, Kitagawa will be relied heavily upon to provide an inside game and leadership. Cunningham returns from an honorable mention season that saw her average 11.6 points. Gutjahr’s fourth year should see her producing more than last season’s 9.5 points and Gallaher will add height as well as a backup for Cunningham. Depth in the backcourt will be a key factor if the Irish are to return to postseason play. Eguchi, Kubota and Westall will help run the up-tempo offense. Montoya, a transfer from Western, should play a lot, along with fellow junior newcomer Vetica. A near non-existent summer program could result in a slow start, but Harrison is confident the kinks will be worked out by the time league season begins.
