OUTLOOK
Hard to imagine, but the Falcons could top last season’s success. They reached the Southern Section I-AA semifinals a year ago, but have the talent to go at least a step farther. Mann is as good a junior as there is in the nation. A year from now, he’ll be Orange County’s most-recruited player and for good reason. He is an exceptional point guard, adept at running an up-tempo offense, and a great scorer. He averaged 21.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 7.3 assists during the regular season. Sometimes overlooked are his defensive abilities. His long arms and quickness smothered many an opponent. Mann will not have to go it alone. Transfers Harmon (Century) and Forbin (Loara), plus Riggins, a returning starter, give Mann plenty of options. Riggins averaged 11 points and was a second-team all-league selection. Harmon, in particular, should be in for a big season. He was a starter at Century last season and gives the Falcons a solid inside game. A brutal nonleague schedule should toughen the Falcons for a playoff run.
