SANTA SUSANA : Class to Offer Composting Tips
Residents of the Santa Susana Knolls can pick up free composting tips in a workshop to help reduce waste, planned Saturday at 10 a.m.
Ventura County’s Solid Waste Management Department is sponsoring the workshop at Santa Susana Park, 6503 Katherine Road.
Composting bins, books and thermometers will be available for purchase at wholesale prices.
As part of the effort to cut down on materials being dumped in landfills, the county began distributing recycling containers to residents this week. Although no curbside pickup is available for Santa Susana Knolls residents, the containers are meant to make it easier to sort bottles, newspapers, aluminum and tin cans for drop-off at recycling centers.
Purchasing and distribution of the bins is paid by a state Department of Conservation grant.
Any resident who did not receive a set of bins should contact G. I. Rubbish at 524-9400. For information about the workshop, call 654-9226.
