Culver City police shot and killed an armed robbery suspect Monday afternoon after he fled from the Fox Hills Mall to an area near Slauson Avenue and the Marina Freeway.
The suspect, an unidentified man about 30 years old, was wielding a sawed-off rifle and was believed to have robbed two stores in the area, investigators said.
The first robbery occurred at 12:40 .m. at a Wherehouse record store at 5577 Sepulveda Blvd. An hour later, the J.C. Penney store in the Fox Hills Mall also was robbed and security guards chased the suspect from the store. Authorities said the man stole music cassettes from the Wherehouse and clothing from J.C.
