Fullerton, Anaheim Officials Deny Section Endorsement
Cynthia Grennan, superintendent of the Anaheim Union High School District, and Ken Jones, superintendent of the Fullerton district, denied Thursday they have agreed to endorse an Orange County high school athletic section.
Grennan said the district remains neutral.
“The Anaheim Union High School District has continued to not take a position,†Grennan said. “That was our position as of Sept. 29 and it has not changed.â€
Dave Andrews, superintendent of the Tustin Unified School District, said Wednesday that the Anaheim and Fullerton districts had agreed to join a county section. The county’s other 13 districts have passed resolutions to support the new section.
Andrews spoke at a meeting involving the Southern Section executive committee and members of the steering committee attempting to form a county section.
Grennan and Jones have said they would wait to make a decision until the State Strategic Planning committee finished its report. That report has not been completed.
“We have no position,†Jones said. “We’re waiting for the state to finish to see what a section would look like and what the governance would be.â€
