GRANADA HILLS — Chaminade High dominated every phase of its 28-8 intersectional victory over Granada Hills on Friday night.
A strong rushing attack, a long touchdown pass and a defensive effort that included nine sacks left little doubt why the Eagles have started the season with a 3-0 record.
Chaminade quarterback Tom Racius completed 15 of 29 passes for 282 yards, including a 70-yard scoring pass to senior Dino Dinielli. The score gave the Eagles a 21-0 halftime lead.
Dinielli caught four passes for 131 yards and also forced a fumble in the second quarter while recording one of the Chaminade sacks.
Granada Hills quarterback Bryan MacLean completed 12 of 25 for 208 yards, but the sacks gave him minus-66 rushing yards. MacLean hit Eric Carpenter with an 18-yard pass in the third quarter for the Highlanders’ only touchdown.
Jason Giovannettone scored Chaminade’s first two touchdowns.
