Monroe 34, Cleveland 29--Running back Nick Nutcitelli scored three touchdowns and rushed for 212 yards to lead Monroe (1-2) at home. Nutcitelli scored on runs of 20, 58 and 38 yards.
Quincy Brooks added 103 yards rushing and scored twice. Monroe finished with 371 yards, 340 on the ground.
Trailing, 34-29, Cleveland (1-2) nearly pulled out the game, driving to the Monroe seven-yard line before time expired.
Cleveland running back Russell Burwell rushed for 107 yards in 12 carries.
