Los Alamitos 38, Washington 7--Junior Dennis Northcutt returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for a Washington touchdown, but his score only served to ignite Los Alamitos’ explosive 22-point first quarter at Cerritos College.
The Griffins, The Times’ No. 1-ranked Orange County team, overwhelmed the Generals with a rushing attack led by senior running back Phil Cruz, who had 18 carries for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
Washington senior quarterback Amar Brisco, who was reduced to scrambling at each passing attempt, carried nine times for 38 yards and completed six of 24 passes for 85 yards and two interceptions.
