Coach: Bob Walton (ninth year).
1993: 22-3, 10-0 in Pacific Coast League; Division II champion for the second consecutive year, beating Edison, 11-7.
Key returners: Michelle Bray, Jr.; ranked 18th in Southern California girls’ 16 division, will play No. 1 singles; Amanda Hastings-Phillips, Jr., will play No. 2 singles and maybe some doubles; Lindsay Weiss, Jr., will play No. 2 or No. 3 singles; Sarah Cohen, Jr.; will play No. 1 doubles; Vanessa Zajfen, So.; will probably play No. 2 doubles.
Key newcomers: Stacey Kirner (), Sr., returns after missing last year; Kim Woodhouse, Fr., will play doubles; Summer Terry, Fr., will play doubles; Trini Jessoe, Fr.
Outlook: Walton petitioned to move his two-time Southern Section Division II champions to Division I so they could battle Palos Verdes Peninsula. But when the Southern Section ruled that the entire Pacific Coast League would have to move up, Laguna Beach and the PCL decided to stay put. Too bad for Division II because the Artists are loaded again. “Now that we’re still in Division II, the girls see the opportunity is there and the goal is there to win a third title,” he said.
