Three NFL owners and representatives of the league’s officials met for four hours in Chicago with no resolution of their contract talks, but with a guarantee that there would be no walkout on the opening weekend of the season.
The officials are asking that game salaries, which range from $1,350 to $2,700 a game based on seniority, be doubled and pension payments increased by 300%.
They argue that with meetings, seminars and weekday game preparation, they spend nearly full working weeks at the officiating job during the season.
