LOS ANGELES : Boy, 5, Fatally Shoots His 18-Month-Old Brother

A 5-year-old central Los Angeles boy found his jailed father’s pistol Wednesday and fired the weapon twice, hitting the ground with the first shot and fatally wounding his 1 1/2-year-old brother with the second, Los Angeles police said.
The younger boy was not breathing when paramedics drove him to California Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
Police said the pistol belongs to the boys’ father, who is in jail. Detectives said the mother of the boys was unaware that the pistol was in the house in the 4900 block of South Wadsworth Avenue.
