CAMARILLO : Gunman Assaults 2 Teen-Age Clerks
A masked gunman who raped a clerk and sexually assaulted another after a holdup at a Camarillo yogurt shop remained at large Tuesday.
The victims, ages 19 and 17 and both of Camarillo, were ordered into the restroom and assaulted Monday night at the yogurt shop, said Detective Cheryl Basset of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
The attack started about 10:15, when one of the clerks propped the front door open while mopping the floor after closing, Basset said. When the man first entered, neither of the clerks was concerned, the detective said, because each incorrectly assumed the other knew him.
He then put on a mask.
After displaying a handgun, he collected about $100 from the cash register and ordered the clerks into the back of the store, where he assaulted them.
Both were treated and released from Ventura County Medical Center.
