THOUSAND OAKS : Pair Jailed on Drug Charges Following Raid
Narcotics detectives arrested a Thousand Oaks couple on felony drug charges Tuesday and dismantled what they said was one of the largest home marijuana farms discovered in the city this year.
Ventura County sheriff’s detectives arrested Rudolf Bohlmeyer, 34, and his wife, Carol Bohlmeyer, 42, after a raid at the couple’s house in the 100 block of Galsworthy Street.
Detectives obtained a search warrant after neighbors complained that drug deals were made at the house, said Sgt. Gary Pentis, head of the sheriff’s east county narcotics squad.
The Bohlmeyers were raising marijuana seedlings in hydroponic setups in two bedrooms, then moving the plants out to a makeshift greenhouse in the back yard to mature, he said. With only half the crop fully grown, the plants still could have brought $50,000 on the street, Pentis said.
“He knows what he’s doing,†Pentis said, picking through the thicket of marijuana beneath the plastic-sheet roof of the greenhouse. “This was going to be good smoke.â€
In addition to the plants and about $1,500 worth of growing equipment, authorities seized two loaded handguns and ammunition, which Rudolf Bohlmeyer was forbidden to own because he has a burglary conviction on his record, Pentis said.
Pentis said the Bohlmeyers were to be charged with one count each of possessing marijuana for sale and cultivation of marijuana, Pentis said. Rudolf Bohlmeyer would also probably face a charge of being a felon in possession of a handgun, he said.
