WOODLAND HILLS : Taco Bell Donates $45,850 to Repair Pool
The Taco Bell Foundation has donated $45,850 to the West Valley Family YMCA to help repair damage caused to its swimming pool by the Northridge earthquake.
The donation will be turned over at a special event Monday at 11 a.m. at the facility, 18810 Vanowen St., Reseda.
Julia Stewart, Taco Bell Corp.’s vice president for the MegaWest zone, will present a check to David Powell, West Valley Family YMCA executive director.
Rep. Anthony C. Beilenson (D-Woodland Hills), who helped arrange the donation, also will take part, as will City Councilwoman Laura Chick.
Taco Bell Corp. set up the foundation in 1992 to assist nonprofit organizations and often help with disaster relief, officials said. The foundation--a separate entity from Taco Bell Corp.--raised the money through employee contributions and donation canisters set up in stores throughout the nation.
Charities seeking aid from the foundation should write to Michele Myszka, executive director, Taco Bell Foundation, 17901 Von Karman Ave. Irvine, Calif., 92714.
