Woman, Man Knifed in Domestic Dispute
A Ventura woman who was stabbed during an apparent domestic dispute Friday morning met police officers at her front door with a butcher knife impaled in her neck, authorities said.
Her boyfriend was found lying nearby with cuts on his neck, wrists and chest in what appeared to be a botched murder-suicide attempt by him, police said.
The victims, identified as Wendy Beaulieu, 25, and Anthony McDougald, 29, were admitted to the intensive care unit at Ventura County Medical Center. Beaulieu was in fair condition late Friday and McDougald was listed in critical condition, a nursing supervisor said.
Despite her wounds, Beaulieu was able to talk to officers, who said they believed the 9:30 a.m. incident was the result of a recent breakup, authorities said.
During an argument at a house in the 200 block of West Harrison Avenue in Ventura, police said Beaulieu told them that McDougald struggled with her over the knife before grabbing it from her. Police believe he inflicted his own wounds, then stabbed Beaulieu before falling to the floor.
No arrests were made and an investigation was continuing.
