Countywide : Group Aiding Foster Kids Plans Benefit
A group that provides services to foster children will hold a fund-raiser next month in Newport Beach.
The event will include a Western barbecue dinner, line dancing and live music. A silent auction for trips to Bora Bora, an island in the South Pacific, and the Caribbean will also beheld.
The fund-raiser will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Crean estate, which overlooks Upper Newport Bay. Tickets are $75 each.
The event is sponsored by Advanced Resources for Foster Kids, a nonprofit group based in Orange. Advanced Resources provides counseling for foster children and foster parents, as well as child care.
The organization also holds weekend outings and arranges supervised meetings between foster children and their natural parents, said Monica Milstead, a representative for the group.
Orange County has about 600 foster families, Milstead said. Advanced Resources serves about 20% of them.
