Orlando and Orange County (Fla.) officials might be pitting Walt Disney World and Universal Studios against each other in efforts to acquire a major league baseball team.
Top executives at the competing Central Florida theme parks have denied any interest in owning a big league team, but sources and official documents indicate a renewed interest, The Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday.
Public records indicate Universal and Disney have been talking regularly with local officials, principally County Chairman Linda Chapin and Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood, about baseball.
