SEAL BEACH : Memorial Service for Boy Killed by Car
A memorial service will be held today for Christopher Schneider, the 12-year-old boy who was hit by a car and killed last week.
The memorial service will be at 6 p.m. at the Coon and Stricklin Mortuary, 1017 Obispo Ave., in Long Beach. A public viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Christopher was waiting to walk his bike across Seal Beach Boulevard to McGaugh Elementary School last Tuesday afternoon when a car jumped the curb and hit him.
Police said Cynthia Kaye Lietz, 28, of Seal Beach faces various felony charges, including reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.
Police are awaiting the results of tests that will determine whether she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The accident came as a shock to Seal Beach residents, who set up a shrine of flowers, pictures and candles at Bolsa Avenue and Seal Beach Boulevard.
A community meeting regarding the accident will take place Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Mary Wilson Library.
