TWA May Cancel Order for 10 Airbus A-330s: The carrier ordered the jets from the European consortium Airbus Industrie. The trade publication Commercial Aviation Report quoted unnamed sources as saying Trans World Airlines has also deferred for as much as a year $10 million in progress payments that were due June 30 as it decides about the order. Airbus, which wants to keep the order, believes TWA wants to husband cash, having gone through an estimated $20 million in June, the magazine reported. The contract for the 10 Airbuses is included in TWA’s bankruptcy reorganization plan, and the airline has already paid deposits to Airbus and Rolls-Royce, which makes the engines for the jets.
