June Restaurant Closures
The county Department of Health Services has the authority to shut down food facilities for as short or as long a time as is necessary for the owners to correct conditions that pose a danger to the public health. Here is a list of the restaurants closed during June.
Amapola Mexican Deli--6000 Atlantic Blvd., Maywood. Closed 6/2 to 6/3. No potable water supply or no hot water, improper sanitizing or storage of multiuse utensils, unsanitary equipment.

Restaurants--Because of a clerical error by the Los Angeles County Health Department, a restaurant’s date of closure was incorrectly listed in the June restaurant closures published in Tuesday’s Times. The International House of Pancakes at 3165 West 6th St., Los Angeles, was closed June 22 for sewage system failure and reopened the same day.
Bit of Sweetland--8560 W. 3rd St., L.A. Closed 6/28; reopened same day. No public health permit.
Bulakena Restaurant--14554 Vanowen St., Van Nuys. Closed 6/27 and remains closed.* No potable water supply or no hot water.
Cactus Kate’s Saloon--13120 Pearblossom Hwy, Pearblossom. Closed 6/8 to 6/14. Inoperable sewage system, no toilet facilities.
C and J Restaurant--10476 Valley Blvd., El Monte. Closed 6/1 to 6/6. Poor general sanitation, unsanitary equipment.
