Dole Food’s Profit Rises 10% in Second Quarter
Dole Food Co., a Westlake Village producer of fruit, vegetables, juice and nuts, said its second-quarter profit was $35.7 million, up 10% from $32.4 million in net income in the same period the previous year. Revenue for the quarter, which ended June 18, was $987 million, up 14% from $864 million the previous year.
For the six months that ended June 18, Dole reported a profit of $65.4 million, up 6% from a $61.9-million profit in the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the six months was $1.81 billion, up 11% from $1.63 billion in 1993.
The company attributed the results to healthy sales of bananas and expanded operations in Europe.
