Creative Computer’s Income Rises in Quarter
Creative Computer Applications Inc., a Calabasas-based company that sells automated data-handling systems for hospitals and medical laboratories, reported a sharp rise in net income for its fiscal third quarter that ended May 31.
Net income for the quarter was $286,313, compared to $90,013 in net income reported for the same quarter a year ago. Sales for the quarter were up slightly to $1.85 million from $1.82 million a year ago.
For the nine-month period that ended May 31, the company reported a net loss of $88,892 on sales of $3.95 million. A year earlier, the company reported net income of $121,163 on sales of $4.66 million.
The company said the nine-month results were hampered by damage to facilities caused by the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake. Steven M. Besbeck, chief executive of the company, said the quake triggered the office sprinkler system, soaking equipment and inventory, and disrupting operations for seven weeks.
