Police Seeking Missing Girl, 6
Police continued their search Friday for a 6-year-old girl last seen on Thursday while playing with friends near her home in the Hyde Park area of South-Central Los Angeles.
The disappearance of Crystal Tymich prompted the Los Angeles Police Department to call a localized tactical alert--which keeps officers on duty after their shifts end--in the South Bureau late Thursday.
More than 100 officers searched the neighborhood around the 6000 block of Bryhurst Avenue without success. The alert was cancelled at 4:30 a.m. Friday, but officers on regular duty continued to look for the child.
Police described the girl as white, about 4 feet tall, weighing 60 pounds, with hazel eyes and long blond hair. She was wearing a pink T-shirt, flower-print shorts, pink socks and white tennis shoes with a picture of a mermaid on them when she disappeared.
