Stern’s Terms
It was fun listening to Claudia Puig’s attempt to interview Howard Stern. Her resulting story was just what Stern wanted. The only thing she left out was his not realizing that she writes for the Los Angeles Times.
It may be self-proclaimed, but Stern definitely seems to have the media as “his audience.†It’s amazing how many journalists are willing to accept his wrath by doing interviews “on his terms.†You can’t tell me The Times didn’t get what it expected.
Then, the “Howard hype†gets front-page Calendar coverage (“Move Over, Woodward & Bernstein,†June 2). I personally enjoyed the story, but wouldn’t a feature on ABC’s “Jacqui’s Dilemma†(reviewed on F9), exploring teen-age pregnancy, have had more relevance?
