VENTURA : City Offers $60,000 in Grants for the Arts
Artists, arts organizations, social service groups and educators may apply to the city of Ventura for four grants offered this year through the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs.
There is $15,000 available for fellowships to individual artists.
An additional $25,000 is available to arts organizations for the production and presentation of cultural or artistic works for the public.
The city is also offering $11,000 in grants for outreach efforts that make the arts more accessible to such underserved populations as senior citizens, poor neighborhoods and disabled people.
Projects may be sponsored by arts organizations or social service groups working with arts organizations or artists.
There is also $9,000 available for projects that bring professional artists into contact with children and adolescents. These projects can be sponsored by schools, community groups or arts organizations and should take place in the school setting.
Applications for the grants must be submitted by 5 p.m. June 15.
Two workshops explaining how to apply for the grants are free. The first will be Thursday and the second June 8.
Both will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Ventura City Hall Conference Room E, 501 Poli St.
