Capistrano Valley Christian 3, La Mirada 2--Mike Mattson had 16 kills for host Capistrano Valley Christian (7-8, 3-7), which won, 15-11, 15-4, 15-17, 4-15, 15-3.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 3, Estancia 0--The fourth-ranked Artists won their eighth consecutive league title with a 15-4, 15-11, 15-6 victory. Dan Styles led Laguna Beach (15-1, 10-0) with 15 kills. Teammates Beau Bianchi and Szilard Kovacs added 14 and 13. Setter Kurt Nelson got 51 assists. No. 10 Estancia (8-2 in league) finished second.
Trabuco Hills 3, Costa Mesa 0--Bryan Schelin and Steve Carter each had eight kills to lead Trabuco Hills to a 15-12, 15-5, 15-2 victory. Chris Congo had five aces for the Mustangs (7-8, 6-4), who clinched third place.
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 3, San Clemente 1--Jeremy Darner had 27 kills and Bob Hefty 26 for visiting Dana Hills (11-4, 7-3), which won, 15-4, 12-15, 15-13, 15-9. San Clemente is 7-3 in league.
In Sea View League boys’ tennis:
Santa Margarita 12 2/3, Newport Harbor 8 1/3--Kent Policky and Andy Tsu swept at doubles, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2, for Santa Margarita, which captured fourth place in league. Santa Margarita will apply for an at-large berth to the Southern Section playoffs.
Geoff Abrams did not lose a game at singles for visiting Newport Harbor. Santa Margarita finishes the season 11-10 overall and 8-7 in league; Newport Harbor finishes 10-11 and 7-8.
In Academy League softball:
St. Margaret’s 12, Liberty Christian 1 (5, mercy)--St. Margaret’s clinched the Academy League title. The Tartans finished the season with an undefeated league record, 11-3, 7-0. Liberty Christian committed six errors in first inning.
In the Sea View League:
Irvine 4, Santa Margarita 3 (12)--With two outs, Amy Young tripled in the winning run for Irvine (15-9, 9-3). Young also pitched all 12 innings for the victory.
Woodbridge 7, Newport Harbor 2--Alison Johnsen had two hits, three stolen bases and scored two runs, and Lizzie Lemire had two hits and two RBIs for host Woodbridge (19-7, 10-2), ranked ninth.
In the South Coast League:
San Clemente 5, Capistrano Valley 1--San Clemente (9-12-1, 4-4) took advantage of six Capistrano Valley errors to win. Jodi Morris had two hits for visiting Capistrano Valley (13-8, 4-4).
In the Sunset League:
Fountain Valley 12, Edison 0 (5)--Lynea Backlund was four for four with two RBIs for Fountain Valley (13-8-1, 9-3).
Marina 14, Santa Ana 4--Lynette Velazquez hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to lead top-ranked Marina (18-2, 10-1). Santa Ana (2-20, 0-12) led, 4-1, after three innings, but the Vikings scored eight runs in the top of the fourth to go ahead for good.
