Series Needs an Overhull
Excuse me? Aliens on the seaQuest? (“ ‘seaQuest’ Comes Up for Repairs,†April 30.)
All I can say is it’s about time. “seaQuest DSV†needs a hull scraping badly. It needs to be de-Ballardized. So far, the series has more resembled a stuffy National Geographic special than the entertaining prime-time show it should be.
Aliens and mermaids. Somewhere, the ghost of Irwin Allen is having a good laugh. After all its pompous, self-righteous sermonizing about how it was not science fiction, “seaQuest DSV†is turning out to be nothing more than a ‘90s “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea†retread.
