THOUSAND OAKS : Woman Pleads Guilty to Shooting Spree
A 45-year-old woman pleaded guilty Friday to nine charges in connection with shooting up a Thousand Oaks neighborhood in a drunken rage two weeks before Christmas.
Kathleen Ann Quinn faces up to 14 years in prison, but her attorney said Quinn plans to tell the court about the circumstances surrounding the shooting in hopes of leniency.
Jenny Scovis, the Thousand Oaks attorney, would not reveal what brought on the shooting spree. Police have said she was upset over the breakup of her marriage.
Prosecutors had charged Quinn with 19 criminal counts ranging from shooting at inhabited dwellings and vehicles to drunken driving. Quinn first pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
On Friday, she pleaded guilty to five counts of shooting at inhabited dwellings, three counts of shooting at vehicles and one count of driving under the influence. No one was injured in the shootings.
Prosecutors plan to dismiss the remaining 10 counts. Deputy Dist. Atty. Roger A. Inman said the defendant would have faced no more than 14 years if convicted of all 19 counts.
Superior Court Judge Lawrence Storch set sentencing for June 17.
