On Assignment Posts Profit in 1st Quarter

On Assignment Inc., the Calabasas provider of temporary professional workers, said its first-quarter profit was $643,000, up 23% from $521,000 in the same quarter a year earlier. For the three months that ended March 31, the company’s revenue increased 16% to $10.34 million from $8.90 million the previous year.
The company attributed the gain to increased sales and expense controls. Also, the company has started a new division that provides temporary workers for banking and finance companies.
