Day Runner Inc.: The Fullerton manufacturer of organizers and planners posted a first-quarter profit of $1.2 million, or 19 cents a share, including a onetime gain of $718,000 from the settlement of litigation. That compared to earnings of $765,000, or 13 cents a share, for the first quarter of 1993, which included a onetime gain of $350,000 from an accounting change. Sales rose 20% to $16.8 million from $14 million.
