Santa Margarita Girls, Saddleback Boys Win

The Santa Margarita girls’ team won three events and the Saddleback boys two as they won team titles at the Tustin Relays Saturday at Rancho Santiago College.
Orange County boys’ teams took eight of the top 10 places and girls’ teams seven of the top 10 as the meet drew a field of 54, the largest in the 36-year history of the event.
Santa Margarita’s girls’ relays won the 3,200 (9:49), 6,400 (22:06.8) and triple jump (101 feet 3 inches for three jumpers) and scored 71 points. Long Beach Wilson scored 51.
Saddleback’s boys won the shuttle hurdles in 59.3 and the 3,200 relay in 8:16.13 and scored 54 points; Wilson had 41. Saddleback also lost two races by one-tenth of a second: the 400 to Irvine (43.8-43.9) and the 1,600 to Wilson (3:27.3-3:27.4).
Top individual performances included Reggie Curry of Tustin, who leaped 46-10 1/2 in the triple jump.
